It’s tough being a high school student living in this world. Everything around them is drawing them to a life that is self-centered, hungry for its own well being at the expense of others, and worldly. It’s hard enough being a high school student, but being a Christian high school student is nearly impossible.
What is our purpose?
Our high school group strengthens and prepares our students to be able to live in this world without becoming a part of it. We have powerful, passionate worship, led by our very own worship band, followed by relevant Bible studies, showing our students how it is that God’s Word is eternal truth that encourages, supports, comforts, and challenges students leading them to life eternal.
When do we meet?
The UACC High School Group meets on Fridays at 8:00 p.m. for a time of worship, Bible study, and fellowship. After Bible study, there are organized games and sports until 10:30 p.m.
The UACC High School Group also meets on Sunday mornings at 11:15 a.m. for worship and bible study. (The High School Bible study on Sundays only meets during the school year. During the summer, high school students are encouraged to attend either the contemporary worship service at 9:00 a.m. or the traditional worship service at 11:15 a.m.)
What are we studying?
On Friday nights, the high school group is going through a bible study series called "Highlights From the Beginning." In this series, we are covering highlights from the first five books of the Bible to get to know who God is and what He is like. As we gain a deeper knowledge of the God of the Bible, we will also understand our place in His universe.
On Sunday mornings, the high school group is going through a bible study series called "To the Ends of the Earth." In our study of the book of Acts, we are learning about the formation of the Christian Church immediately following the resurrection and ascension of Jesus. As we see how the early Church depended on the Spirit and witnessed boldly for Christ, we will also be encouraged to live our lives fully for Him.
What about camps and retreats?
Every year, we participate in retreats with AEYF, Camp AREV, and Forest Home.
What else do we do for fun?
Every Friday evening, we have youth hangout time in our gym and our youth room from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The high school group has organized monthly activities, including sports tournaments, hiking, bowling, and retreats. Also, high school students can sing in our youth choir.
