Biblical Principles For Stewardship

Here at UACC our commitment to Christian Stewardship in our financial lives is based on a few important principles from the Scriptures:

1. "The Earth is the Lord’s and all it contains, the world and those who dwell in it." (Psalm 24:1) Everything and everyone in this world belongs to God. We are but stewards of all that He has given us.

2. "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse..." (Malachi 3:10) God has given us all these blessings for our use and enjoyment. He expects that we return at least a tenth, or a "tithe" for the support of His ministries and to help the needy.

3. "Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." (II Corinthians 9:7) Our Christian giving should be a product of our thankfulness to God. We are not to give out of compulsion, or duty, but with a cheerful heart, grateful for all God’s blessings.

We expect our members to take these spiritual principles seriously. Each of us must prayerfully consider how we will exercise good stewardship of our time and talent, as well as our financial resources.

The Scriptures clearly promise that God will bless us when we are faithful in sharing systematically and sacrificially for His work and ministry.

Here are some ways you can contribute to the ministries here at UACC:

ANNUAL PLEDGES

Prior to the start of each calendar year, we ask that our members fill out a pledge card to indicate the level of support we may expect from them for the coming year. This important commitment is vital for the Church leadership, so that they may plan the ministries of the Church with confidence.

A pledge is a spiritual commitment that encourages a disciplined, systematic approach to stewardship. The yearly pledges constitute the financial backbone of the Church. If you have not done so already, please make your annual pledge today.

SPECIAL GIFTS

During the year gifts may be made for special occasions and/or memorials. There may also be opportunities to provide sponsorships for various events. Our Church picnic and the annual banquet are two notable events that require the active support of the congregation to be successful.

MISSIONS GIVING

Our Church supports dozens of missionary efforts all over the world. Gifts may be made toward specific projects, or simply for the Missions Fund in general. There are special offering envelopes in the Church pews that may be used to make missions contributions.

BUILDING FUND

The Church building is in constant need of maintenance and repair. Gifts to the building fund are always welcome and can be put to use immediately. When major renovations are necessary there may be special fundraising campaigns.

ENDOWMENT FUNDS

The following Endowment Funds have been established at UACC. Contributions to these funds will be added to the capital and the interest accrued will be used for the purposes indicated below:

1. Building Endowment Fund
Income will be used for major building repairs and/or maintenance.

2. Christian Education Endowment Fund
Income will be used for youth programs, Sunday School and/or other Christian Education programs.

3. Music Endowment Fund
Income will be used to support the Church Choir and/or other music ministries in the Church.

4. Missions Endowment Fund
Income will be used to support our Church missions programs.

GIFTS OF PROPERTY

There may be tax advantages to be gained by donating stocks, bonds, real estate, or other property to the Church. The Stewardship Committee has a number of professional advisors on hand to provide assistance in these matters. If you have questions, please call the Church office to be referred to the proper party.

WILLS AND BEQUESTS

Many individuals would like to remember the Church in their wills, or create some kind of living trust, but don’t know how to go about setting it up. In this area as well, the Stewardship Committee has a number of professional advisors on hand to provide assistance. If you have questions, please call the Church office to be referred to the proper party.

Stewardship is an important spiritual matter. We urge all our members to review the information in this brochure. There are so many different ways to help support and build up the ministries of the Church. Please take some time to think and pray about how you will exercise good stewardship over all that God has entrusted to you.

All appropriate contributions are tax deductible. A complete statement of annual contributions is mailed out at the close of each year.
